Regular and punctual attendance is the greatest single factor in school success.

Attendance Procedures

From the GAP Student Handbook

1. All absences (other than court, funeral, GISD mtg., or sent home sick) must be made up.
2. Excuse notes should be brought to school upon a student’s return.
3. Attendance is recorded daily.
4. Students are counted tardy at. 9:15am
5. Tardy Policy If a student arrives after 9:15am: 1x = warning 2x = warning 3x = write-out 4x=
day added to their placement/suspension (dependent upon circumstances)
6. If a pattern of non-attendance occurs (arriving late, leaving early or both), GAP campus administration will decide if a student will be given credit for the day or if consequences may be assigned.
7. GISD notifies parents in writing when students reach the 3rd, 7th and 10th unexcused absence. Failure by parents to address and correct the problem may result in a referral to the Williamson County Justice Court for a truancy hearing, for student and/or parents.
8. Attendance is a high district priority. When a student earns a GAP placement a spot is reserved in the program. Because a limited number of spots are available, school truancy will be addressed quickly and prosecuted. Please partner with administration if attendance issues occur to avoid Truancy charges being filed.
